A combination post regarding updates scheduled for Valley Forge and Independence.

Valley Forge’s memory upgrade went through seamlessly last evening, total downtime was approximately 11 minutes. This was one of our remaining shared systems with 2GB of memory, which is now up to 4GB.

Independence was not rebooted last evening due to some scheduling issues on our end. This server requires a careful reboot as it handles approximately 15 customer VPS nodes. We will be rebooting this system tonight at 8PM PDT. We expect this to take 15 minutes.

We will update this list when Independence is rebooted.

Thank you.

SouthCarolina Slowness

August 21, 2007 9:19 am

It had come to our attention that an account in the server was compromised (vulnerable script/application) and was used to send outgoing spam. The number of emails being sent out in bulk were quite large and the server load did spike up during this period.

Services such as POP3/SMTP were mainly affected and users might have noticed a slow response from the server.

The situation is under control now and all services functional and responsive.

Customers facing any issues while accessing server resources may let us know by opening a support ticket with us. We shall address the situation immediately.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Thank You,
Swapneel
